Wedding status update...

Well we've been engaged for almost 3 months, we STILL don't have a date set! We're going down South for Christmas so hopefully we'll find something then. I really can't wait for this task to be crossed off the list! I feel like I can sit and look at photos and ideas all day long but until I know the exact location of the wedding, everything else is insignificant.

I thought this would be the easy part! Sometimes I feel like I am getting too caught up in finding "the perfect place." Maybe it doesn't exist, or it does but it's in California or Italy and just too far for us to travel or too expensive. This is definitely not the fun on easy part! It's got to get better from here....right?!

I LOVE this look. It's so beautiful and elegant, yet very clean and simple. I really like the lilies in the first photo. Usually when you see this done it's with orchids but the lilies look just as beautiful.

Cheese and wine

Mike and I love cheese and red wine. On Sundays we will usually head over to Whole Foods (ours has a great Fromagerie) and pick out a yummy cheese and then head to our favorite wine shop for a fabulous bottle of red. We usually grab other accompaniments too like olives, grape leaves, crackers, a nice salami, whatever we are feeling that day. It's one of our favorite things about Sundays.

Of course I would love to incorporate this into our wedding, maybe in lieu of passed hors d'oeuvres. I like these set ups...

Honeymoon Locales...

Since before Mike and I were engaged we knew we wanted to go to Thailand for our honeymoon but now we are re-thinking the idea. We don't want to deal with a 24 hour flight and 12+ hours of jetlag going there and coming back. So today I have been researching new locations, closer to home. And then I found this....I think Bali is even farther than Thailand but this place looks like heaven on earth! The photos on the website are even more incredible. I want to go...now...

Save the date

Save the date cards are inevitable for us since no matter where we have our wedding, the majority of our guests will have to travel. I want do something fun, post card style, with a photo of us and Peewee, or maybe just Peewee. I love these ideas...

This would make a beautiful groomsmen gift, or maybe even for the hubby to be!

The Foundry

We are kind of opposed to doing the wedding in New York because of cost, not only for us but also all those who will be traveling to attend our wedding. However, The Foundry is one of the places on our list...it's sort of like a modern barn, I love the beams and architecture.

Invite Obama to your wedding...

I just spotted this at WeddingChannel.com, apparently you can invite the president elect and his wife to your wedding, as long as you are getting married after he is inaugurated on January 20th, 2009. Check out the details over at weddingchannel.com.

So it's not really a cushion but I love the idea, especially for our barn wedding. I had originally planned to make the ring pillows but I love this option.

I LOVE these earrings...wow, they are perfect and they are green, one of my wedding colors! These were custom made for a bride by Kris Nations but are now available for sale on her site. The rest of her jewelry is pretty amazing.

Flowers

I definitely want to do my own flowers...this is something I have known since I got engaged. Florists can be sooo expensive and I think I'm capable of arranging flowers myself, apparently a lot of brides are doing this now because when I went to look up wholesale flowers online there were many who seemed to cater to do-it-yourself brides.

I have the luxury of having the flower district here in NY but because we are most likely doing a destination wedding, it would be too difficult to transport fresh flowers myself so I found a few online that I really like.

While I can't show you the dress, I can show you the earrings I am thinking about wearing. I spotted these in Brides magazine this month...I love them!

Our first wedding gift!

Mike's parents bought us our first wedding gift! We haven't had a chance to start our registries yet so we gave them some ideas of a couple of things we wanted and this was one of them....I'm so excited, it should be delivered today!

Dance Lessons

Mike and I are thinking about taking dance lessons for our wedding. I have been looking at places in the city, there are a ton and it's not nearly as expensive as I thought it would be.

Of course our first dance may never be as good as this couple's but we can try...

I found a dress!!!

I went home to Florida for the weekend, my parents threw us a small engagement party and I went dress shopping with my mom, grandma, maid of honor, Mike's mom and Mike's sister...we had a blast and I found the perfect dress. I am not going to post photos here for fear of Mike stumbling across them but the dress is by Pronovias.
