In full planning mode...

Wow, it's been a long time since I posted here! Mike and I are finally settled in Florida. We moved from New York about a month ago, shortly after I lost my job. I had a major freak out moment a couple of weeks ago when I realized that the wedding was quickly approaching and we had done absolutely nothing to plan for it! So...we are now in full planning mode, along with house hunting and attempting to build my business...needless to say, there is a ton of stuff on our plate right now. The stress level is high but I'm excited about what the future holds.

All that being said, I have to post this photo because I absolutely love her hair. This is exactly the look I want, it goes so well with my dress too.

Putting things on hold....again

If you keep up with my personal blog, you might know that I was recently laid off from my job. This has put the wedding planning on the back burner for a little while. Mike and I need to re-group and figure out where we are going from here. Posting may be light for a while as I begin to focus on other things.

We found a location!

I am so relieved! We went over the weekend to look at my mom's friend's house and it was just amazing. Nothing like a barn, but everything else I have ever wanted in my wedding location.

I am so excited and relieved that this part of the process is over and we can begin to move forward with planning. Both of our families and Mike and I are really excited! So much time had passed between our engagement and finding a place to get married that I almost feel like I got engaged all over again.

I think we have chosen a date as well. Since we are doing it in a private home we have a lot of flexibility with our dates. Right now it looks like November 7th. It's still beautiful in Florida during that time of year and we are almost out of hurricane season.

Now I need to get busy with save the dates. I have lots of ideas floating around in my head and I think according to wedding rules, they need to go out by April or May.

Here are some pics we took of the property.

Getting back on track

I'm back from a very long and relaxing vacation and blogging break.  I am ready to get back into the swing of wedding planning.  I had sort of a freak out, panic moment over my vacation realizing that Mike and I have been engaged for almost 5 months and we have NOTHING done!  I am switching gears a bit with the original barn idea.  I just can't seem to find anything out there that is elegant and rustic and affordable!  I am now onto a new idea, a garden wedding at a private home.  I am searching homeaway.com, my new favorite site for potential locations.  Home Away is a vacation rental site and in searching, I have found several locations that are willing to rent their home for a wedding.  I have a long list of potential houses, I just have to stick the list in front of Mike so we can narrow it down and start making some decisions.

Be back soon...

With all the craziness from the holiday season, I'm taking a short blogging break. I will be back after the New Year (after I've scoped out some locations down South) and hope to be in full wedding planning mode!! Happy Holidays!

Wedding status update...

Well we've been engaged for almost 3 months, we STILL don't have a date set! We're going down South for Christmas so hopefully we'll find something then. I really can't wait for this task to be crossed off the list! I feel like I can sit and look at photos and ideas all day long but until I know the exact location of the wedding, everything else is insignificant.

I thought this would be the easy part! Sometimes I feel like I am getting too caught up in finding "the perfect place." Maybe it doesn't exist, or it does but it's in California or Italy and just too far for us to travel or too expensive. This is definitely not the fun on easy part! It's got to get better from here....right?!
